Earlier this summer I had fun contributing to a special episode of “Strange Animal,” a weekly radio show on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation that is a bit like National Public Radio’s fantastic “Radio Lab” show.
The show asks the question: “Why do we lack willpower?” and talks to three psychologists: myself, procrastination researcher Tim Pychyl, and David Walsh, author of No: Why Kids-of All Ages-Need to Hear It and Ways Parents Can Say It. Then the host gamely tries out our theories and advice.
You can listen to it here or download it for free on itunes.

Loved this – thanks for doing the show Kelly. I have shared it with many friends and colleagues.
Heard you speaking on willpower on People’s Pharmacy this morning. You tied together many separate thoughts I have thought and read about in regards to myself and my work as a nurse practitioner-in fact it is a scary thought to me to think I might have continued through years of life not connecting these ideas. My example of starting small to increase vegetable and fruit consumption in my life. I buy the bags of baby carrots and pull them out for every meal and keep them in the refridgerator at work. At breakfast time I may only eat one little carrot. I look forward to reading your book on willpower and will share it with others.
Thank you Jane! May you have many fruits and vegetables in 2012.
